Today our Ballykin family participated in Clean Up Australia Day! Though it was delayed due to the torrential rain over the past few weeks, the outing was incorporated into our excursion program and saw the children and educators go out into the community to help cleanup and take care of our local environment. On their return to the centre, the children discussed the rubbish they had found and sorted the items into our various paper, plastic and waste bins.

What was started over thirty years ago, by an “average Australian bloke” who had a simple idea to make a difference in his own backyard has now become the nation’s largest community-based environmental event. Of course, Australia’s waste challenges can’t be solved in just one day, so over the past three decades, Clean Up Australia has evolved into an organisation that works with community, government and businesses to provide practical solutions to help us all live more sustainably every day of the year.
