Exploring Nature, The Best Playground Ever!
As educators, carers and parents, we are aware that modern lifestyles have resulted in many children becoming disconnected from nature. There are several factors that contribute to this, not least being a general risk-averse approach to play, sedentary technology experiences and lack of time for unstructured outdoor play.
To address these issues Ballykin Rose Bay has created the ‘Out & About’ project. Designed for the children to enjoy close encounters with nature at our local beach, Lyne Park or Panerong reserve once a week, ‘Out & About’ allows our children to engage in extended periods of uninterrupted play; with lots of time to observe, wonder, discover and enjoy the natural world around them. Being in wide open outdoor spaces gives the children opportunity to further explore their physical abilities and skills.
Here are some photos of our first ‘Out & About’ adventure to Rose Bay Beach. And what a beautiful morning it was too!
